Guild Drop-In - Fleece Preparation
July 30, 2019 –
The Guild Drop-In is an informal evening for members and those interested in our activities to get together to spin, knit or ask questions of others. If you have equipment you don't know how to use, materials you can't identify or wonder how to use, this is the place to ask. (Members can also use our private Facebook page to ask questions.)
Theme of the month: Fleece Preparation
We will walk you through the various steps and tools involved:
- Removing Vegetable Matter (VM),
- Carding and
Members (and visitors) will be able to see (and try out) different hand combs, hand carders, and drum carders. There will also be a demonstration with the picker. Attendees are welcome to bring clean fibre that they would like to practice on. The venue does not permit us to demonstrate the different scouring techniques, but we will be able to discuss them and help you determine which process to use for your particular fleece. This is a timely Drop-In topic, given that Fibrations 2019 is on August 18, and there will be vendors with fleeces!
Come see how it is done, try it yourself and learn how to use the guild's equipment to prepare your fibre.
Guild Drop-In is held at Community Living Victoria, 3861 Cedar Hill Cross Road, Victoria from 7 – 9 pm
If the weather is nice, we will be set up with tables under the trees by the parking lot.
