Come and learn about and/or try Core Spinning with Prairie Escalier. Prairie will demonstrate how to create fancy yarns with this technique.  If you wish to try it out, you will need to bring:

  • Bobbin of thick yarn (at least this size of your little finger)
  • Bobbin of thin thread (sewing thread weight)
  • Interesting specialty fibre like sari silk, bits of angora or other specialty fibres, mohair is the best specialty yard to learn with; don’t forget locks if you have them and 2 lazy kates are the best but anything that can hold a spool of thread on one side and a bobbin of wool on the other will do fine.
  • Your spinning wheel and bobbins to work with.

Note that there will (probably) be a spinning wheel that you can try out this technique, but you will need your own if you wish to take the results home.
