The Guild maintains a library of books and magazines for the use of members.  These titles have been selected to support the Guild in its goal of promoting excellence in handweaving, spinning and other fibre arts.

The book collection consists of approximately 200 titles including:
  • Reference and instructional texts for both beginning and experienced practitioners of fibre arts;
  • Introductory and advanced pattern guides and project instructions;
  • Colour and design theory and instruction.

You can search the following lists to find just what titles we have:

The magazine collection consists of 4 titles:  Handwoven, Spin Off, Ply, and Vav.  There is a 5 year retention policy for these titles with older issues being offered for sale at a Stash Busting Sale (usually in September).

The Library is open for browsing and borrowing at the Guild’s monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, and on Drop-In nights when the Librarian can attend. The loan period is 1 month with materials to be returned at the following meeting.

Magazine Websites and Indexes

Handwoven and Spin Off both maintain websites with additional material; the LIBRARY tab offers some material for free and you can find links to Long Thread media podcasts on the PODCAST tab. Go to Handwoven or Spin Off and explore. You can also find indexes for past issues of both magazines on their respective sites – type index into the Search box at the top of the page.
