Bring your mug for tea/coffee; Visitors welcome

Library will be open, Show & Tell will include taking photos if you wish so bring your camera or cel phone, charged up and ready to go.

Our speaker this month is Mary Sanserverino. Her presentation will incorporate items for Show & Tell. Her outline follows:

“In many respects photography is a search for light, texture, dimension, and form – it runs on a continuum from the very abstract to the factual record. Practicing the art and science of photography is about learning to see in new and different ways, while still honouring our existing vision. Certainly it is about mastering the tools – be it high end camera or old smart phone. But, more importantly, it is about developing the flexibility to experiment (it’s only electrons after all), reflect on what worked and what didn’t, and incorporate experiences into the next photographic outing.

In this session we will take a look at a few of the technical basics behind photography, but will spend the majority of our time on compositional ideas – focusing on how to tell stories with photos.

Bring a piece or two of something you’d like to photograph, a digital camera, and/or a smart phone and we will do some hands-on practicing using ideas discussed earlier in the evening.”
